National Paging Congress Berlin, Germany

The 11th National Paging Congress took place from 18th to 19th April 2016 in Berlin, Germany. The congress is focusing on paging technology and its applications. Nowadays mainly used for alerting first responders but also new applications like distribution grid telecontrol have been developed recently.  This year the congress hosted a symposium on Smart Control, Metering and Grid. The IRENE threat assessment and grid islanding approaches were presented during the symposium.

The second day of the congress was devoted to a panel discussion about the impact of Smart Grid technology on the reliability of power grids. The audience, mainly consisting of representatives of fire brigades and civil protection agreed on the importance of grid protection and contributed their experiences during large scale power outages.
